Although his first career as a graphic artist and art director in Boston, Massachusetts, was successful, Brian Blood wanted to be a fine arts painter. So he moved to San Francisco and enrolled at the Academy of Art College, where he earned his BA and MFA. Blood has been painting full time for the past 15 years, and teaches in the Fine Art department at his alma mater. "I love to see the looks on the faces of students as they begin to understand the thrill of painting outdoors," he says with great satisfaction. Primarily a plein-air painter, Blood recently moved to the picturesque Monterey Peninsula. Only minutes away are Point Lobos and Garrapata State Park, two of his favorite subjects to explore and paint.
